There’s a new business making Downtown Decatur a little bit sweeter. In fact, Sweets by Jordan just made the move from a home-based business to a store front on Second Avenue two weeks ago!
Something Sweet is in the Air!
Jordan Adcock is the pastry chef and owner of Sweets by Jordan. While the made-from-scratch bakery is new to downtown, it’s not new to Decatur. In fact, Sweets by Jordan has been a home-based bakery for nine years.
Sweets by Jordan specializes in custom desserts, birthday cakes, wedding cakes and will even do catering! The new store front gives loyal fans of Sweets by Jordan the chance to enjoy delectable pastries and everyday favorites regularly.
What’s baking?
It depends on the day! Daily specials are featured throughout the week. A good way to know what’s fresh from the oven is to like the Facebook page.
For example, on Valentine’s Day, Jordan let customers know that the Cake Slice of the Day for Wednesday would be red velvet with toasted pecan buttercream icing. Delicious updates also include flavor listings for spontaneous cake purchases straight out of the cooler!
To be clear, we mean 6-inch, 4-layer cakes! Flavors like vanilla with vanilla buttercream and strawberry with strawberry butter cream are a few sweet examples. Of course, besides cakes and pastries, there are homemade cookies—and even cookie kits on occasion!
More About the Pastry Chef
Jordan’s love for baking can be traced back to high school. She followed her dreams all the way to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. From there, she studied under top pastry chefs at places such as The Greenbrier Hotel and Resort in West Virginia and Watercolor Inn and Resort in Florida.
Now, find her serving fresh baked, mouthwatering treats in her hometown in south Alabama.
Location and Hours
Located next to Second Read Books downtown, the exact address for Sweets by Jordan is 324 Second Ave. Suite B. The bakery is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday the store is closed.
